Referability

چکیده
In this chapter, we take Generation of Referring Expressions to be the task of producing a description of the referent that allows the reader to identify it. In doing so, the generator can make use of any information that it can safely assume the user to possess, based on a model of the hearer’s information (henceforth, the Knowledge Base KB). Given an algorithm for producing referring expressions (REs), the following questions can be asked:

Studying the "referability" of child clinical problems.
Child clinical problems may differ in their power to evoke clinic referral, and this "referability" of problems may also differ with the gender or culture of the child who manifests them. The authors propose (a) a method for the study of such differences and (b) a new statistic, the referability index (RI). RI reflects the frequency with which a child problem stimulates clinic referral, adjuste...
متن کاملSharing Resources in CLARIN-NL
Sharing resources in a systematic way is essential for conducting high quality scientific research but it imposes requirements on the documentation, visibility, referability, accessibility, and long term preservation of these resources. Sharing resources only makes sense when others can actually use them, which imposes requirements of interoperability on resources. In this paper we describe how...
متن کاملThe effects of race and problem type on teachers' assessments of student behavior.
The authors tested the hypothesis that race bias in teacher evaluations may be problem specific by examining the extent to which ratings of child behavior were influenced by the interaction between the race of the child and the type of presenting behavior. Teachers (N = 197) were presented with three vignettes (overcontrolled, undercontrolled, and "normal"), systematically paired with a photogr...
متن کاملChildren referred for specialist care: a nationwide study in Dutch general practice.
BACKGROUND Insight into referral patterns provides general practitioners (GPs) and specialists with a frame of reference for their own work and enables assessment of the need for secondary care. Only approximate information is available. AIM To determine how often, to which specialties and for what conditions children in different age groups are referred, as well as how often a condition is r...
متن کاملGains from diversification on convex combinations: A majorization and stochastic dominance approach
By incorporating both majorization theory and stochastic dominance theory, this paper presents a general theory and a unifying framework for determining the diversification preferences of risk-averse investors and conditions under which they would unanimously judge a particular asset to be superior. In particular, we develop a theory for comparing the preferences of different convex combination...
